Shelter From The Storm has begun a major recruitment effort for more volunteers to assist in providing services to victims of domestic violence in the Coachella Valley. We need your help. Each and every volunteer makes a difference in his and her special way!
Volunteers are needed to staff telephone crisis lines; serve as court advocates; assist in the agency’s schools; provide early evening childcare when mothers are attending group counseling; tutor children in the agency’s transitional program; help at birthday and holiday parties for children; assist in coordinating donations; provide transportation for women and children; and use special talents to teach classes for women in cooking, knitting, art, and other home or recreational activities.
To serve as volunteers, interested women and men must be at least 21 years of age, able to commit to four hours of volunteer work weekly, submit an application, agree to a background check, and complete a State mandatory 40-hour training session.
For an application and more information, contact Stefany Luyando at 674-0400 or Maricela Ponce at 328-7233. Or, use our email contact form to tell us about yourself and how to reach you.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Shelter From The Storm!
